Green yacht crew

We have a soft spot for you guys. Trust me, we know how hard it is pounding the docks day after day looking for work. Dock walking sucks. But what sucks more, is handing a basic looking CV to a potential employer.

So don’t be that guy.

Cross your T’s and dot your I’s. Make sure your CV looks its best. And if you don’t have the time or skills for that, we can help. Just book in a CV makeover and let us handle it.

If you are lucky, we might even be able to find you some work afterwards using our network!

Brush up your dockwalking

No one likes it. We all had to do it. And yes, everyone is staring at you from the top of the mast. But when you do muster up the courage to hand over your CV, make sure it looks BANGING!!

Typos are a nightmare. One is passable, but if your entire CV is peppered with them, you can forget being at the top of the pile by the time it reaches the captains desk.

If English isn’t your first language, please, ask a native English speaker to look over your CV. Small mistakes could cost you the phone interview. Most boats don’t expect your English to be perfect, many request various other languages too, so please don’t ever let that hold you back from applying.

Taking on the services of Superyacht CV’s helps you to gain confidence in your CV. It will be tweaked to balance out the translation differences and you will look like a stronger candidate for the role. It will just be down to you to nail that interview then 🙂

Make friends with the agents

Or not. Be their worst enemy! I’ve heard of several yacht crew over the years who landed their first job because of their persistence. They nagged and nagged the agents, literally daily, popping by or emailing and calling, they BEGGED for work and eventually, the crew agent got sick of them hanging around and sent them some day work. From there, they worked hard and proved their worth and went on to long careers within yachting.

But it pays to be on top of your yacht crew agent logins and check ins. Do it daily and keep your Profile at the top of their listings.

Wondering who to contact? Theres a great list of crew agents who have been around for years and are really good over at our friends page. Check the list here. They actually have a really comprehensive “how to get a job on yachts” guide, that although it is targeted at yacht chefs, has many points that are perfectly relevant to all yacht crew. Have a dig around on their website to find more tips on landing your first yacht crew job.

Ready to take the leap?

Being able to customise your CV any time you need to is important for many Green Yacht Crew, especially those who are day working and changing and updating their CV every week. We help make that simple with our easy to use templates. Just buy a CV template and within as little as one hour, you can have a fully functioning CV ready to apply for your next yachtie job.

All of our templates are customisable, from the text and font, to the colour scheme. Although, the ones we have already, are pretty good to go, right out of the box!

We also include a full “how-to” guidebook on creating your new CV. That includes tips and tricks for wording your CV through to what to do afterwards when you dockwalk and contact agents. Of course there is also a full run through on using the programmes and extra tech assistance for fun additions such as QR codes.

Below are some of our templates. Again, keep in mind that the colours can be changed along with the fonts. It depends how creative you feel like getting 🙂
