Are you planning on dockwalking soon to get your first deckhand job?

What does a yacht deckhand CV need to have on it?

As a deckie entering the industry, you may think your land based experience is amazing enough to land you your first yacht job. And yes, for some crew it is. There are always stories of deck crew who land a job within a week of arriving in Antibes or Fort Lauderdale. But many do struggle, even with some amazing land experience.

If you have spent a lot of time on the water, you may already be familiar with driving tenders or setting up various watersport systems. These skills will come in handy. Especially if you are looking for a deckhand role on an active boat. If you have a trade background, such as woodworking or painting, these skills can be advantageous too as a deckhand, especially for yard periods.

Superyacht Cv’s can help design you a yachting resume to make you stand out from the other cv’s. We will ensure your strengths are clearly highlighted and all of the necessary yachting information is on there.

Being able to customise your CV any time you need to is important for many deckhands, especially those who are day working and changing and updating their CV every week. We help make that simple with our easy to use templates. Just buy a CV template and within as little as one hour, you can have a fully functioning CV ready to apply for your next deckhand job.

All of our templates are customisable, from the text and font, to the colour scheme. Although, the ones we have already, are pretty good to go, right out of the box! We also include a full “how-to” guidebook on creating your new CV. That includes tips and tricks for wording your CV through to what to do afterwards when you dockwalk and contact agents. Of course there is also a full run through on using the programmes and extra tech assistance for fun additions such as QR codes.

Below are some of our templates. Again, keep in mind that the colours can be changed along with the fonts. It depends how creative you feel like getting 🙂

A deckhand works on a yacht and is also often referred to as “deck crew”

Depending on the size of the boat, you could be working in a team as small as 3 deckhands, or you may be working with upwards of 10. The type of boat also changes the number of deck crew needed. There will be more deckies working on support vessels and less working on sail yachts. You will probably already have an idea of what type of yacht you are looking to get your first job on.
