About Me

Rachel Cunningham
Can you guess the yacht? 2018

Hi, I’m Rachel.

I’m a Kiwi who has been working in yachting for more than 8 years now. Wow! Time flies when you are having fun! I have worked as a stew, sole chef, sous chef and finally as a head chef on boats ranging from 30m- 90m+.

After being asked by my own crew to do their yacht resume’s every season, I finally caved and decided to set up this website and subsequent Cv writing business for other yacht crew.

Learning to make dumplings in Taiwan while also displaying an epic example of a claw hand. You’re welcome.

If you want some social proof, I am @roundtheworldrachel on Instagram (It’s my personal page, and I generally don’t post anything about yachts or work, because of privacy and contractual reasons) And here’s an article about me from Dockwalk magazine, from when I was a sous chef, before stepping up. I was also published in a Food and Wine article about yacht chefs. And in 2022, I won the ACREW award for Mentorship, further solidifying my position in yachting as a mentor for new crew.

English is my native language, so if English is your second language, I can also help with your grammar and ensure your CV is written in a well-structured manner.

On the side of yachting, I also worked as a freelance tech journalist for a few Australian publications, namely pcworld.com.au, and I ran my own travel blog which I manage and built. I have built many other websites in the past for various small businesses and for personal use. Of course, I also built this website and manage the SEO and backend stuff mostly myself. I have slightly more knowledge of the techy side of websites than your average yacht chef 😉

Fun Facts: I did a really dated Tedtalk in 2019 about how the world needs to stop travelling so much. Thanks to Covid a few months later, that backfired spectacularly.

I hope that helps you get to know me a bit more. If you want to get in touch, swing me an email or drop a whatsapp message on my contact page.
